Mom who arrived at ER with dead tot in arms faces charges
An Arkansas mom who arrived at an emergency room carrying her dead daughter has been arrested, local police said.
Sierra Johnson, 20, was taken into custody Tuesday in connection with the death of her 18-month-old daughter, according to the Fort Smith Police Department. She was charged with permitting the abuse of a minor, according to police.
The arrest comes after her live-in boyfriend, Tyree Wiliams, was booked Feb. 1 on murder charges for the tot’s death.
Authorities said the couple entered the emergency room Jan. 30 at Sparks Hospital with the mom carrying her deceased daughter, Kylah Woodard, in her arms, according to news station KHBS.
Medical professionals attempted to resuscitate the child to no avail and determined she was dead on arrival, police said.
The child’s body reportedly showed bruising when she was brought to the Fort Smith medical center.
An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of death, according to police.
Williams, 25, admitted to investigators that he punched the tot in the stomach, KHBS reported. He was arrested on an outstanding unrelated warrant and later booked on charges in the girl’s death.
The pair is being held at Sebastian County Adult Detention Center.
